Places To Visit In Srinagar

Srinagar is full of gorgeous parks and gardens, breathtaking lakes, and picture-perfect houses. Here is a list of the top 5 places to visit in Srinagar:

Dal Lake

Dal Lake is the second-largest lake in Kashmir. It is the most-visited area in Srinagar where tourists come to roam around the lake and spend a night or two in the famous houseboats. Dal Lake is stunningly beautiful in both Summer and Winter. Tourists can roam around the lake and enjoy the views on special boats named Shikara.

There is a floating market on Dal Lake from where the locals buy their daily food items. Local vendors also sell food, tea/coffee, pieces of jewellery, clothes etc to tourists from their boats. During summer, they grow vegetables on the lake. During winter, the lake gets frozen and you might even see snowfall from your Shikara. The view and ambience of Dal Lake are so soothing and peaceful.

Shalimar Bagh Mughal Garden

Another primary tourist attraction of Srinagar is the Shalimar Bagh Mughal Garden. It was built by Mughal Emperor Jahangir for his wife Nurjahan. Jahangir and his wife regularly visited Kashmir, especially during summer. During Summer, It was used as the official residence and operated as the Royal Court of Emperor Jahangir. Later, Emperor Shahjahan ordered an extension of the garden.

There are three terraces in the garden. The first terrace is for the public called Dewan-a-aam, the second terrace was for noblemen and Royal guests and it has a canal, the third terrace is called Zenna Garden where the women used to live. The third terrace has a beautiful snowy mountain view behind Bara Dari- a tiny palace made of black marble. The water features of the garden have beautiful fountains in them and the water reflects the sky and mountains which looks stunning.
